You should put page numbers at the bottom or top of an APA dissertation/thesis page and combine the position in the same paper. Also, you should utilize any Arabic style, lower and upper case roman numerals, lower and upper case alphabetic page numbers, for example, a, b, c, and then combine styles in your APA dissertation/thesis.
Note: no page numbers on separate pages. You can start again page numbers from any page beginning at any number or go on the numbering from a preceding section. Page numbers of your APA dissertation/thesis correct themselves, when you type or they remain static. For example, when you create chapter two to start with page number 1 and then you join pages to chapter one, chapter two will start with a page number one.
You should remember to control the page number as well as header justification. Also, header justification and page number can be adjusted separately of each other. You need to control that the page number will the left or right of the header. You can change the style of page numbering of any part you have already made.
Still more rules of using APA writing style:
1. Do not use page number on your title page.
2. A preface begins with Roman numeral ii at the page’s bottom.
3. An acknowledgment page going on from the preface typed with Roman numerals at the page’s bottom.
4. The main body of the document in Arabic numerals, numbers located at the top right side with the first page being page number one.
